JOINT BEEF CHECKOFF PROGRAM COMMITTEES
The Cattlemen’s Beef Board and the Federation of State Beef Councils maintain joint program advisory committees and subcommittees to review proposed and existing national checkoff programs and to make associated recommendations to the Beef Promotion Operating Committee. In 2011, the Beef Board and Federation agreed to revamp that joint committee structure, and the resulting structure — approved by both the Beef Board and Federation in July 2012 – is based on a new, more practical way of thinking for the time, by organizing into committees according to strategic objectives of the Beef Industry Long Range Plan. It aims to raise more producer and importer voices into higher-level program decision-making so that individual CBB members and Federation diretors have a stronger say in the checkoff process.
Below is a list of the new checkoff program committees and subcommittees, with links to more information about each, beginning with agendas for their initial meetings at the 2013 Cattle Industry Convention in Tampa, Fla.
