Don’t Miss Opportunities to Participate

It’s time to gear up for the 2007 Cattle Industry Summer Conference, which is on tap for July 17-20 in downtown Denver. And with a budget that’s down 9 percent year-on-year, producers and importers who volunteer to serve on checkoff committees certainly face challenges in developing a plan of work for investing checkoff dollars as efficiently as possible in Fiscal 2008.

During the Beef Board meeting at the end of the week, Board members will be asked to review and approve the budget recommendation from the Joint Budget Committee and the Beef Promotion Operating Committee. The Beef Board will then forward that budget approval along with recommended programs to fund in Fiscal 2008 back to the Operating Committee for its consideration in September.

These meetings mark the critical final actions in the year-long checkoff planning process, so don’t miss your chance to participate. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can track meeting and conference activity on this blog, and checkoff program activity at the Beef Board Web site, at www.beefboard.org. If you have questions about your checkoff program or meetings, feel free to contact the Beef Board office at 303-220-9890 or via email at beefboard@beefboard.org.
